Future-Proof Your Self and Your Career While Social Distancing
Have you ever found yourself wishing you were living someone else’s life, whether you see people travelling more often, investing in something meaningful, obtaining a better job? Recent changes to our daily routine, affected by Covid-19, have on the upside given most of us the opportunity to take some time to reflect on our personal lives and careers.
By taking some time to think about where there is room to grow, we are able to consider what matters most, and whether the life we are living is meaningful to us, or whether we are just moving from one task to another with every day that passes by. Understanding what we want, what makes us happy, what we value, our connection with the people around us, our environment, and our money, amongst other things, will all lead to us directing ourselves towards the path that we choose.
Soul searching is one of the best means of achieving this. It enables us to evaluate what is important to us. This is only possible if we have the time to do it. For those spending more time at home, now is a great opportunity to take the time to disconnect for a few hours from social media, relax, and engage in a calm activity to help these thoughts flow.
Here are some areas you may like to contemplate:
Define who you want to be
Letting others fully control your decisions can result in joylessness. Focus on being authentic and true to yourself. What are your values? What brings you happiness? Question your habits, thoughts, and what motivates you. The aim of soul searching, ultimately, is to return to the core of your being.
Use self-enquiry, meditation, journaling – try writing a letter to your inner child. For each person, the path to the authentic self is unique but well worth the effort. By returning to your core values and a true sense of self, you will be infused with the motivation to get inspired.
Feel inspired
Without drive, you feel hopeless and lost. Sometimes in the pursuit of what we think we want to achieve; we lose the true purpose of our goals. Does your environment motivate you? Do you have a productive workspace? What inspires you?
We all have up and down cycles and need a boost from time to time. Yes, we can simply keep working and we will have good days and bad days, however, taking the time to reflect every now and then will make all the difference. Soul search to acknowledge where you are at present in your life and find new inspiration.
Open up to new possibilities
Let go of anything that is not working for you and open yourself up to new possibilities. Try a vision session:
- Visualise where you see yourself in 5 years’ time
- Focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want
- Don’t leave out the details – make your vision of success real
By letting go of what is not working for you and visualising the opportunities you would like to attract into your life, you are already on your way to new possibilities.
